Refelction
For this assignment, I was to choose from numerous game templates and make a lesson using those templates.  The lesson was to be geared toward the certification that I am going to achieve.  My certification is going to be K-3, so I chose first grade math and spelling, and incorporated that into a Jeopardy game .
When I first started assembling the game, I thought this would be a relatively easy assignment.  I soon realized that coming up with questions was more difficult than I thought.  I struggles to make it interesting for the students without being repetitive.  I finally
finished the assignment and was pretty pleased with it.  Then, I had to embed it in my ePortfolio.  I don't think I have ever had such a hard time with any assignment in any class I have ever taken.  I was very frustrated and had a very hard time embedding this game that I was so proud of!  I would embed it, and it would not be there the next day.  I got help in class to put it back, and it woulds not be there for the next class.  As I am writing this reflection, I had to embed my power point again, because it was not there.  I put a link to my power point game on this page, just in case it is not there during my presentation.  This is my backup.
I think this would be a great teaching tool for all grade levels.  It would be great to start a lesson with the class saying "THIS... IS... JEOPARDY !!!"   Calling students up to compete and getting them motivated would be a great way to engage them and get them interested in whatever subject you choose.  You could even have teams compete against each other to promote collaboration as well as collaborative thinking.

Reflection
This Excel assignment was a guided step by step instruction to create an Excel spread sheet.  The steps were in the Maloy Textbook and were very easy to follow.  After opening Excel and reading the steps, I was surprised at how easy it was to use.  I had only used Excel a few times before and was quite intimidated by it.  I would always click on the wrong box. I would go up instead of across or down instead of up. I was glad I got to experience using Excel with guidance.  Being a "Digital Immigrant", it made me feel more confident in using Excel in the future.
I think that using Excel is a great way to teach students important lesson ( such as recycling).  My certification is going to be K-3.  I would use this to show graphs.  The students could graph how many students have dogs, how many students have cats..ect. I would also put less common pets on the spread sheet as well.  The students could then discuss how their pets are different, or the same.
